Seoul (Korea Newswire) September 13, 2010 -- PeerApp, a leading provider of Content Delivery Platforms and Media Caching, announced the successful deployment of the UltraBand 5000 in a 100Gbps carrier deployment.

A leading carrier has deployed the UltraBand 5000 to deliver over-the-top video and provide a superior download and viewing experience. The UltraBand systems are delivering over 20PB (PetaBytes) of video and other popular content per month to millions of subscribers. This equates to over 250 million videos served per month.

PeerApp‘s UltraBand is the world’s only transparent Internet cache and content delivery solution that supports video, HTTP file downloads, software updates and peer-to-peer in a single, modular and scalable architecture. The solution scales seamlessly allowing everyone from small scale satellite uplink ISPs up to the largest network operators to deploy an intelligent media caching solution that meets the needs of their customers and their growing network.

“The demand for higher quality video and larger software downloads is putting intense bandwidth pressure on operators and rapidly eroding their margins,” said Frank Childs, PeerApp‘s VP of Marketing. “PeerApp’s transparent Internet Cache solution allows operators to increase their subscriber's quality of experience (QoE) and reduce transit bandwidth. The UltraBand supports the most protocols and services in the industry and its scalable, cluster computing architecture provides flexible deployment options for operators of all sizes.”

PeerApp‘s intelligent media cache enables network operators to increase their customers’ QoE and optimize network performance by delivering content inside the operator's network, eliminating latency and congestion associated with Internet transit and content web servers. The improved user performance allows an operator to live up to marketing commitments for customer connection speed and differentiated classes of service. Additionally, the solution reduces bandwidth OPEX and allows the deferral of capacity purchases by handling requests without file transfers from the Internet. It further opens up new opportunities for network operators to monetize the delivery of multimedia content to their subscribers by allowing the operators to offer guaranteed quality of service content delivery services to the content providers.

The UltraBand product is currently shipping and can be purchased from PeerApp directly or through any of its worldwide channel partners. For more detailed product information, please visit www.peerapp.com.
